The Great Bridge Project is nearing completion! The push is on to construct and install the final sections of water mitigation bridges. This has been a mighty project that has already shown its worth in marginal snow conditions.

A completed water mitigation bridge on the Sprint Loop built to exacting environmental standards and soon to disappear as grass and other low foliage grows through the mesh.

2025 XC WORK PARTY #4 (5-6 APRIL,) SAVE-THE-DATES & MORE NEWS

2025 XC Work Party #4 – 9am Saturday and Sunday 5-6 April. Work will continue on Monday and Tuesday for any workers who are available.

Many thanks to the XC enthusiasts who joined the March XC Work Party #3 and concentrated on the bridge construction and installation.

Meanwhile inside the Shelter, the event-flag-renewal project started at the February Work Party by the younger members of the crew continued in March. 2025 event organisers and racers are going to love the new hi-vis flags!

Join the April XC Work Party #4 Crew to install the next bridge section, catch up on trail maintenance, and create more flags – all part of a rewarding and sociable weekend. Overnight accommodation in Perisher is available for all XC Work Partiers, generously provided by Canberra Alpine Club.

As usual: If you can attend all or part of the 5-6 April Weekend Work Party #4 and/or the extra weekdays, contact Peter Ward (nswxc1@gmail.com). Bring gum boots, work gloves, PPE, work clothes for any weather, march fly defence, lunch and snacks. The hot water urn, sandwich press, microwave, coffee and tea are available at the Shelter.

If you require accommodation, please contact Peter Cunningham (peter.petercunningham@gmail.com). Bring bed linen, towels and food/drink for meals – the shared dinner on Saturday night is always an interesting social occasion.

   All XC Work Parties will be confirmed prior to these dates. 

Save-The Dates:

12-13 April – Australian Rollerski Championships – 8:00am at Mt Stromlo Criterium Track, Canberra. Fun to participate and great to watch. Information and registration here – https://www.snow.org.au/events/229302

10 May – Annual Snow Sale – Click Here for information for Sellers, Buyers and Volunteers. Volunteers are needed on Friday for set-up and Saturday for the Sale. NSWACT XC and PXC benefit directly from the proceeds of the sale, so please volunteer! To volunteer, contact Wendy at sale@snow.org.au.

7-9 June – Annual NSWACT XC Jindabyne June Long Weekend Jr Camp and Snowy Mountains Nordic Rollerski Challenge. Stay tuned for more details as they become available.

Winter Accommodation Needed:

Reasonably priced winter accommodation, preferably self-contained, is required for the 2025 NSWACT XC Winter Program Coach – June through September. Please contact nswxc1@gmail.com if you can help and for more information.
